Let’s talk about… SEX!

June 10th, 2008

No really. Come on.

SEX SEX SEX SEX SEX SEX SEX.

Want more?!

Ok, what about if I get the Mobsters involved too? How’s this?

Hehehehehe….   So, why the SEX talk?

Well. A few months ago I was taken along to a meeting with some of the people behind MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation. The Staying Alive Founation (SAF) is a global charity setup by MTV to empower and support young people who are protecting themselves from HIV and AIDS.

The meeting was organised to discuss how Social Media could be used to help people across the world connect over the issues surrounding sex today. “Wow!” was my initial response “What a brief?!”

Sex in society today has a stigma attached to it which means it can be embarrassing to talk about openly. Something as simple as buying a pack of condoms from a pharmacist to some can be the hardest thing in the world. This needs to stop.

The Staying Alive Foundation believe that the best way to combat such pressure is to encourage conversation. Conversation is education. Only by truly keeping discussions about sex firmly out in the open can we ever hope to relieve the parameters that seem to fence young people when it comes to this subject matter.

So what can you do to help?

SpinVox & ‘U’ see - clever huh?

You can start by stimulating conversation around some of the points and issues that I’ve outlined above. Moreover, the Staying Alive Foundation needs YOU to be vocal in your support.

It needs YOU to GIVE VOICE TO THIS CAUSE.

Today SpinVox launched its first ever Social Responsibility Campaign - it’s called “Stand By What You Say

Its in partnership with Staying Alive, you can donate through Facebook Causes, Kelly Rowland is voicing the campaign (call the numbers and see) and YOU can get involved by heading over to the website right now and speaking freely about SEX.
