Amy Winehouse LOVES SpinVox

July 2nd, 2009

.

Well… Ok.

Maybe not THE Amy Winehouse.

;D

But still, it’s good to see the SpinVox Speech Mobsters on the move at Glastonbury again, do you remember seeing them there last year?

Thanks for the photos Matt, we love them.

How to: Speak your Tweets

June 12th, 2009

As promised last week, here we have another Twitter / SpinVox-themed blog post for your consumption.

We’ve talked about this before but, what with our recent press release around the uptake we’ve seen in Tweets being spoken through SpinVox I thought I’d add another quick ‘How to’ guide to our blogging collection on how to speak your updates to twitter…

This is open to anyone in the UK, Canada or the US – ready?

Step 1) Get yourself to http://ping.fm/signup/spinvox
Hint: It looks like this:

Step 2) Go through the oh so simple (five step) signup process.
(not forgetting to add Twitter to your dashboard)

Step 3) Dial the number you get given at the end and then you’re ready to…  PING THROUGH SPINVOX!

It’s that easy, a monkey could do it :)

Give it a go, you might like the results…

Lifehack: SpinVox & Evernote

April 3rd, 2009

A bit of Friday fun for you dear readers..

Given THE RECENT OPENING OF OUR API! – ahem – I thought I’d share this little nugget that I spotted this in my Twitter stream late last week.

SpinVox fan and all round nice guy, Nik Butler – aka @Loudmouthman – has this handy tip for using the rather awesome Evernote iPhone app in conjunction with the equally awesome (and free!) SpinVox Memo service.

Nik, over to you…

(needs sound)

How cool is THAT?! :D

Now imagine if you took evernote, combined it with audioboo (that’s that lovely piece of audio up there) and the threw the whole thing the SpinVox Create API Programme… Well, the mind boggles.
And actually, what are you waiting for?

Heh.

In the meantime, I’ve asked Nik if he wouldn’t mind authoring a guest post for Big Talk sometime in the near future. Hopefully he’ll go into this process in a bit more detail as well as tell us more about all the other ways he uses SpinVox throughout his life. He’s a very busy man, but as soon as it’s ready to go – I’ll post it up for your reading pleasure :)

And that’s about it for this week folks, a very busy one indeed…

If you have any interesting ways of using SpinVox that you’ve discovered then by all means mail them in and I’ll get them up on the blog – the address is, as ever – james dot whatley at spinvox dot com

Bon Weekend!

:)

SpinVox LOVES Calgary Twestival

February 10th, 2009

SpinVox LOVES Calgary Twestival

.

It’s Twestival time!

On 12 February 2009 200+ cities around the world will be hosting Twestivals which bring together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water.

In fact – the latest press release from Twestival Global HQ says that:

“In just one month, from volunteer effort alone, global Twitter-based charity event Twestival has created events in 175+ cities, predicted to raise $1 million for the 1.1billion people in the world who can’t access clean drinking water. Growing beyond all expectations since launching in January 2009, Twestival takes place for 24 hours on February 12th, everywhere from Bethlehem to Birmingham, Beijing to Boston, as up to 20,000 come together inspired by community and charity.”

One of those 175+ cities is Calgary in Alberta, Canada – They’re hosting Calgary Twestival
One of the Chief Organisers is @Roger – aka Roger Kondrat – friend of SpinVox and all round nice chap…

Hang on – we’re getting ahead of ourselves.. Some explanations needed:

Twestival, in case you were wondering is a Twitter Festival.

A Festival for Twitterers if you will.

Originally setup as a fun way to meet new folk, put faces to avatars and to also, make some money for charity; Twestival is now a monster worldwide operation with nearly the entire world population of Twitter taking place!

Of course, Twitter being all about communication – it just makes sense for SpinVox to get involved somehow. So today we are pleased to announce that every single Calgary Twestival attendee will walk away with a brand spanking new 1 year’s TOTALLY FREE subscription to SpinVox!

The whole Twestival thing ROCKS our SOCKS here at SpinVOX (see what I did there?), so we’re pulling our socks up and mucking in with the best of them.

You can too -

SpinVox: How do you use yours?

January 29th, 2009

Good day to you fellow SpinVoxers…

My good friend and buddy Steve Lamb – aka @actionlamb – and I were talking SpinVox on Twitter today when he prompted the idea for this blog post…

- Just do it -

SpinVox, as some of you may or may not know, has many many uses/applications… Aside from the multitude of services that we offer, there is an abundance of ways that these can be utilized…

Case in point – I often use SpinVox Memo for taking notes and/or recording content for my personal blog as you can see here. However, how I use it is not important – at least, I don’t think so.

The interesting stuff is in how YOU use SpinVox. I took the liberty of casting the question out over Twitter not too long after the above conversation with Steve took place and well, here are some of the responses:

That last one is an interesting one re: Evernote. I’ve asked @loudmouthman to see if he wouldn’t mind expanding on those thoughts and maybe writing a guest post for Big Talk.

Watch this space… In the meantime: How do you use yours?!
