What’s going down blogtown?

January 7th, 2008

It’s been a busy week here at SpinVox HQ and it’s ONLY MONDAY! Eep…

So, in lieu of my next amazing, award-winning blog post, (shh - our secret), here’s a quick round up of what’s going down in the blogging world of SpinVox today:

CES has kicked off! Woooooooo! At laaaaaaaaaaast!
I remember the days when this used to be a huge event in my gaming calendar…
What with the likes of Nintendo & SEGA et al using this platform to announce their latest machines etc…Oh how times have changed! :D

Anywhoo… SpinVox has it’s very own roving reporter there RIGHT NOW in the rather lovely form of Laura-Jane Rich.

Laura-Jane, (or ‘L-J’ as she prefers to be known), will be reporting live from the conference floor direct to her blog! You can read her first post right here, (spoken through SpinVox of course).

Have fun L-J! You have no idea how green with envy I am! It shoulda been me! ;)

On the back of that we had this lovely piece appear in the Financial Times this morning not only referencing the advent of the spoken blog at CES (see above) but also Symbian-Guru’s coverage of Nokia World, Anna Hemming’s award-winning antics on her blog AND… (breathe!)
Paul Mitson’s intention to speak his blog live from the (now sadly cancelled) Lisbon to Dakar Rally!

Not bad work for a Monday eh?

Moving on from that, what’s your calendar looking like for 2008?
Got anything exciting on the horizon?

Personally, I’m looking forward to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) starting in a few days - being a complete techno-geek myself I can’t wait to see what amazing advancements will be unveiled/announced.
I mean… we’re eight years into the 21st Century for crying out loud! We’ve got to get flying cars at some point… SURELY!

But, if CES turns out to be a let down, there’s always Mobile World Congress (the conference formally known as 3GSM) to look forward to in February.
If you’re not familiar with MWC/3GSM, don’t worry… neither am I!

But I am lead to believe it is THE place to be if you happen to be anywhere near the cutting edge of the mobile industry and, what with SpinVox winning the Mobile Innovation Award (two years ago I think it was now), I think it’d just be plain rude if we didn’t pop our heads in to say hi…

;)

In the meantime - good luck, dearest readers, in the new year ahead and I’ll leave you with one of my favourite quotes:

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.

Have a good day!

Monday Morning Catch Up

December 3rd, 2007

So much to blog and so little time…

Champagne

I don’t know, seriously, you wait four days for something to write about when three things land in your lap at once.
Wherever shall I start?

At the beginning of course… :)

First up, coming in at the tail end of last week, is some BIG news!

The SpinVox Blog has won its first award…
Yes. That’s right. Here we are, seven posts in, and already the plaudits are flooding…

Eh?
What’s that?!

oh.

Sorry. There seems to have been some mistake. Umm…

It turns out it wasn’t the SpinVox BLOG that won the award after all.
It was in fact the SpinVox BLOGGING Product.
Well how am I supposed to know these things if no one tells me…

Last week, Blog through SpinVox was announced the winner of the Best New Service category at the World Communications Awards!

WCA

The judges described Blogging through SpinVox as Truly innovative and capturing the Zeitgeist. It also turns out we fought off very strong competition including entries from Orange Business Services, 3 and Colt Telecom.

Why not find out what all the fuss is about and signup for Blog through SpinVox yourself? I did.
And in the meantime I’ll try and figure out where we’re going to put our latest accolade.

Look out for another catch up post later on today before we pack ourselves off to Mobile Monday

:)

Converting Voice into Trends

November 26th, 2007

Are you a sheep or are you a shepherd?
Do you set trends or do you follow them?

May be you do neither; maybe you HUNT trends down in the middle of the night and make them your own!
Well if you did do that, if trend hunting was your thing…
Then you’d probably read something like TRENDHUNTER.COM

That’s all well and good… I hear you cry …but what the hell as that got to do with SpinVox?

Well, I’m glad you asked!
Those lovely people over at the aforementioned website of cool have gone and written a rather stonking article about turning your voicemail into text (that’ll be our area of expertise then) as well as enabling ‘talking to the web’.

Here’s a snippet of what they had to say:

There has been all sorts of fuss lately from players such as Microsoft, Google and Apple about bringing the web to a mobile environment by using speech, the oldest form of communication. However, this is exactly why I think SpinVox should be mentioned as they have been doing this for over four years. They are experts in “talking” to the web or turning your voice mails into text, something which is becoming a very hot trend indeed.

Nice work! :)

You can read the rest of the article here, so I’d put on my trendiest pair of shoes and hotfoot it over there sharpish if only for the fantastic picture they’ve used to accompany the piece…

Y’see - now you’ve just got to click.

Go on.
Click!
